Some of the most frequently asked questions we get on YouTube is what gear we use when we paint and do our hobby. To make things easy we've made an extensive list here of as much as we could. Some items are no longer for sale, or go by a different brand in the US vs Sweden. So when ever it’s not exactly the product we use, we've linked the closest thing we could find.

Light Sources
We have plenty of lights when we paint, more than we need probably. We do have a main painting light, but since we want to have as good light as possible when we record the videos we have a couple of extra. Our main painting light is a wide LED TASK LAMP, 24w with a White light, about 6000 kelvin to give a natural daylight color temperature. We also have two 6300 KELVIN BARE BULBS and a LED MAGNIFYING DESK LIGHT at the same color temperature. All of this is really overkill, although we do admit, having two is nice. Four is definitely more than you need.

AIRBRUSh
Airbrush is a fantastic tool for painting miniatures. It’s by no means a one tool fix all - but with the right use you can get some amazing results, effects and get some of your painting done faster. We’ve used a couple of different airbrushes through our painting and thus have a couple of different recommendations when it comes to airbrushes. The first recommendation is that if it’s your first airbrush - buy a mid priced one. Not a too cheap one that you cant use for small stuff, but also not a too expensive one with a small needle - because it’s easy to do something wrong with your first airbrush and thus breaking it. A 0.3 to 0.4 mm airbrush is great for beginners. For one who had an airbrush for a while and want to dig deeper, a 0.2mm airbrush is great.

CANON EOS M50 Mark II - USA / UK / GERMANY / CANADA
The canon EOS M50 Mark II is the camera that we use for all the head shots as well as the hand held stuff. A great “cheap” 4k camera - It’s so small and easy to carry around and the focus engine is ridiculous. We can strongly recommend this one for anyone who is shooting stuff where peoples faces are shown. For filming miniatures it’s great as well.
CANON EOS R6 - USA / UK / GERMANY / CANADA
This camera is a bit more on the expensive side but whit its full format sensor it is truly great. We’ve had it a couple of years in our normal business so it’s easy for us to use it in our videos. The colors in this one is a step better than the M50, but it’s also a lot bigger. We do use this one for most of our painting shots and details shots - and for the still photos we take of minis after the video.

Not the best monitor in the world. But it has an attractive price point and is incredibly easy to use and move around. We are very pleased with what we get from it and it really helps us to see what the camera records when we paint our tutorials.

Paints
We own hundreds of paints from different brands with different properties. We’ve had great experiences with many different brands, like Vallejo, Citadel, Greenstuff Worlds, Scale 75 etc. But we won’t be listing every single paint we use. Instead we’ve made some suggestions on paint sets that we find great for beginners. Vallejo Game Color is a vibrant paint set and Model Color is a bit more muted in it’s colors. The Army Painter Quickshades are a great tool to get some nice sheen to leathers, create some gory effects or just shade colors. Vallejo Metal Color are my favorite true metallic metal paints!

PAINT BRUSHES
We’ve been using allot of different brushes. Windsor & Newton Series 7, Rosemary & CO series 22 & 33, Raphael 8404, Games Workshop, Army Painter, Feldherr, Artis Opus just to mention a few. All of these work fine and people like different brushes for different reasons. Now that we have partnered up with Da Vinci and made our own Kolinsky Sabel Brushes, we use them for 99% of the time.

But on Amazon, the one that we prefer above all is the Raphael 8404. It has a great snap and a bit larger belly than most other brans, which means that the paint don’t dry as fast and hold more paint - so we can paint a bit more between having to rinse and add more paint to the brush.

Wet Palettes & Other Tools
The wet palette is after the brush the most important tool to control your paint. We’ve tried a plethora of different brands and have one clear favorite, that is the Red Grass Games - Everlasting Wet Palette. But there are other brands that works perfectly fine. Our second recommendation would be The Army Painter wet palette and thirdly the Masterson. But know that the Masterson don’t have anti mould treatment and might grow on you… literally.

3D Printing
We are addicted to 3D printing! We own a couple of printers where we print rediculous amounts of Terrain as well as printing Miniatures. If you’re interested in getting into 3D printing we have a couple of models we’ve been using and some we can recommend.
When it comes to resin printers we have experience with a few, the ones we recommend today that we’ve tried are Phrozen Sonic Mini and Mighty. But you don’t have to read many reviews online to find that it’s been the “industry standard” since its release. This Phrozen printers are FANTASTIC if you’re looking to print miniatures, figures or bits for your gaming minis.
