Time to grease up your perfect paintjob, without fear. In this class we will teach you how to add grease and streaks in the right places to make everything look more “in world”. We will also look at how to add those pesky decals like a pro

We wind down after the first night of classes with a sip and some hobbying over at the Discords voice chat channel. So bring drinks, snacks and some hobby stuff and come hang out 😁Even though the name suggests Gunpla building, any hobbying is fine, but hobbyknives and drinks just seem like a good combo.

Hobby 101 - Tiny Figures, Big Fun!

Welcome to Hobby 101, your crash course in bringing miniatures to life! Whether you're gearing up for epic tabletop battles or just love the idea of tiny, painted masterpieces, this class is your gateway to the miniature painting hobby.

We’ll dive into the tools you’ll want, the dos and don’ts every beginner should know, and the art of mastering paint consistency—because yes, the difference between “buttery smooth” and “chunky chaos” matters! Think of it as your miniature painting survival guide, complete with tips, tricks, and a few laughs along the way. Ready to get creative? Let’s make those minis shine!

Cellshading - Paint Like an Anime Hero!

If you’ve ever wanted your figures to look like they just popped out of an anime or old-school comic book, this one’s for you! We’ll look at how to bring your minis to life with that bold, clean, cell-shaded style—simplifying shapes, dialing up contrast, and adding that signature stylized flair that'll make your figures pop like crazy on the tabletop! Expect a fun, laid-back session full of practical tips, creative insights, and time for Q&A.

Textures - Textures are all around us, but how do we apply it to miniatures? 

This class aims to give you some tips and tricks to work with textures and how to smooth out blends in the places you want it most on your mini project.

Community Paint-along Roulette - all the thrills of miniature painting but with none of the planning. 

Join us for an evening of edge of your seat painting where every few minutes you’ll be given a new random challenge to apply to your miniature. To join all you need is a pre-primed mini of your choosing and some paints. As the nature of the challenges are fun but random, you might want to use a mini you don’t mind having a strange paint job on.

Storytelling and atmosphere

This beginner-friendly class explores how to elevate miniature painting through narrative and mood. Students will learn how to ask storytelling-driven questions to define their characters and settings, and how to use color temperature, lighting, and scenic details to evoke emotion and atmosphere. Through artist examples and practical breakdowns, participants will gain tools to create compelling visual stories in their miniatures. The class also encourages continued learning through recommended resources and observation techniques. This class is a participation style lesson and students will be asked to provide their opinions during class.
